I asked some of my Spoonie (If you dont know what Spoonies are) friends to assist me with answering a few questions to help me better answer the question “How to Flourish?”.
I really appreciate them taking the time out to help so I’ve listed and linked their websites/blogs alongside their responses (: Please show them some support and definitely visit their sites. You’d be surprised how much support you’ll get from others that deal with the same illness or issues as yourself.
Okay, on to the questions. I began by asking them:

To grow and thrive in a positive way

Flourish is something that happens when all your basic needs have been met. Only then can you go above and beyond and fulfill your potential.

So basically flourish means to grow or develop in a healthy way or vigorous way. I love this definition because it basically sums up all the responses into one. The problem a lot of us have run into is “How do you flourish?” especially in the face of adversity. Welp, that is what Chronically Flourishing Series is all about.

So, How does one flourish in the face of adversity, illness, or just shitty situations, you may ask?
You have to nourish to flourish baby
Ash
This brings me to my next question that I asked my fellow chronic illness bloggers:

Give myself the tools my body and spirit need to survive.

To take care of my body and mind, to give myself everything I need to be the best version of me.

Nourish to me is about ensuring your body and mind and being given enough fuel and rest to function. If you don’t put fuel, be it good, water or rest into your system it can’t operate.

The word nourish means, all substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition. Before you can achieve anything you must first take care of yourself. Don’t ignore your needs trying to achieve acknowledgments.
When you take care of yourself first you’re able to do everything else in life that much better. You’re important too and you deserve to be treated with kindness.

Nourish to flourish means taking care of you so you’re not pouring from an empty vessel. Your body, heart, mind, and spirit all makeup Y-O-U. You must nourish each differently in order to flourish. Think of yourself as a plant. Plants need nourishment, sunlight, water, etc… to thrive and grow. You must also nourish your body, heart, mind, and spirit to grow.

First off, I love your blog look. I choose to nourish myself everyday, mind, body and soul. I agree that nourishing and flourishing is pouring into self as much as possible. Being happy who you are and comfortable with who you are becoming. Society gives us mixed reviews and intimidates us into believing we are not enough. I choose not to take that road. Great read.

August 16, 2019 at 3:25 amI take care of self by scheduling Me-time each week and doing absolutely nothing OR just spending quiet time to think.
I flourish by being conscious of what I eat to avoid eating too many carbs, and having quiet time, even if it’s just sitting in my car on my lunch break.
