How To Nourish Your Mind

Nourishing your mind has to be one of the most important things you can do for yourself. I believe that we get consumed with living our day to day lives, we forget to properly take care of our minds. So that is what this post is about. How to further love thyself by nourishing your mind.

Mindfulness is simply being aware of what’s happening right now. This shouldn’t include feelings of wishing things were different or criticism, negativity, and shame. It means simply enjoying the present moment from a non-judgmental point of view.

Have a mindful walk (or sit). I enjoy going to my backyard when it’s not so hot outside and stretching out on my favorite lawn chair. I use this time for silence and enjoy all the beauty nature has to offer. I try not to think about my current stressors. These mindful moments throughout the day keeps me grounded and gives me clarity.

If you don’t have a nice backyard you can always find a nice place inside where it’s just you. Also try visiting your local park or nature trail. It’s one of my favorite ways to nourish my mind.

Also known as “Do Not Disturb”. You should have moments where you can unplug from the world… of social media. I know it sounds cliche but try placing your phone on DND at bedtime. Instead of strolling through your Instagram feed for hours, try meditating to fall asleep. You’ll sleep 100 times better (and this is coming from a chick that has really bad insomnia because I’m on 1,000 meds).

I’m talking about ways to help yourself become self aware. You’re probably thinking why should you give a crap about being self aware? When you are aware of yourself you are able to make decisions and have positive thoughts about YOURSELF.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself right now to self reflect:

When writing this post I challenged myself to list ways that actually help nourish your mind. Too often we focus on eating the right foods and taking the right meds, mental health is something you should also nourish.

Reading is just an overall beneficial act. You expand your vocabulary, thoughts, & learn so much when you read. Let’s pretend your mind is a muscle, in order for it to remain strong you have to exercise it.

    Love this! I nourish my mind by practicing meditation and reading both fiction and non-fiction. I think it is important for people to figure out what helps them nourish their mind as well!

    Love it! Since I am moving into a house soon, I will be able to sit on the back porch and take a breather. Something I always wanted to do. Ways I nourish my mind is by listening to music, painting and disconnect myself from everyone by turning off my phone and enjoying me time.

    I love this!! Mindfulness is everything in the times that we are now in. It’s sometimes hard to be mindful because of the atmospheres that we are in but we must know how to stay on the course within OURSELVES and navigate the times we are in! ❤️

    We all need to be mindful about living in the presence. It is easy to be stressed about tomorrow instead of focusing on the fact that we are alive today. I need to start practicing not being on social media when I have a potty break in the middle of the night.
